Shootout Win in Home Opener - Nov. 08, 2009
The Seahawks hosted the AQ Molson Thunder at the Border Arena for the S'Hawks 2009/10 home opener.
The game started fast and furious as the Thunder scored a quick one 1:50 into the first frame. The Seahawks Adam Nelson scored only 8 seconds later to tie the game at one. The scoring continued throughout the first period with the Seahawks leading 6-4.
The second period was much more defensive and the teams settled in. The second period saw no scoring leaving the S'Hawks up 6-4 entering the 3rd.
The Seahawks scored early in the 3rd taking a 7-4 lead but the Thunder came back strong scoring 3 goals late in the period in a span of 4:26 seconds to send the game to OT.
Overtime saw the Seahawks outshoot the Thunder 8-0 but could not get one past Thunder goalie Mark Marshall.
In the shootout, the Nick Nozolillo stopped all 3 shots by the Thunder while Adam Nelson scored for the Seahawks.
Joel Walker had 3 goals and an assist, while Adam Nelson and Adam Bradley each had 5 point nights with 2 goals and 3 assists each. Martin Rioux picked up 2 helpers on the night, while Cory Comeau and Eric MacDonald each had one assist. Nick Nozolillo had the win in goal.
The Seahawks outshot the Thunder 54-36.
